About:

Hello, and welcome to Mama’s Sacred Village. I am honored that you are here.

My name is Beckah Vonderheide. I reside in Lancaster, Pennsylvania with my husband, Nathan, and our two children, Nala and Noah. I enjoy knitting, reading, baking bread, cooking, swimming, and drinking coffee out of my favorite mug.

I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Millersville University. I previously worked in the Juvenile Justice field for over 5 years. I am now shifting into birth work to provide postpartum doula services. I have participated professional postpartum care (doula) & education training through Newborn Mothers and received a certificate of completion. Additionally, I have my own birth and postpartum experience to draw upon. I have experience breastfeeding, exclusively pumping, formula feeding, and combination feeding with my two children. I also experienced undiagnosed postpartum depression and anxiety with my daughter, which resulted in pushing away support. I realized after much growth on my own part and much therapy that life is meant to be experienced with others, it is not about competition but it is about connection. For the birth of my son, I was able to prepare more extensively for my postpartum. This included joining a mothers circle, hiring a postpartum doula, allowing only certain people into my space during the first few weeks, and continuing on with my own therapy.

As a postpartum doula, I offer care that encourages the emotional and physical healing of mothers after birth. Through my own postpartum experiences I have learned how powerful it is to be nurtured and nourished, to have your feelings validated, and to have non-judgmental support. I am delighted to be someone who provides the comfort and care that helps a mother feel safe, seen, and validated.

I believe that postpartum is forever and I am grateful to be just one part of your sacred village.
